VU Blazer Baseball splits doubleheader at Cleveland State; Simpson hurls shutout in opener

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Vincennes University Blazer Baseball Team got another strong outing from freshman Ty Simpson Saturday - a complete game shutout, in fact - as VU won the opener of a doubleheader, 1-0, at Cleveland State.
The Trailblazers (2-4) were defeated in the second game, 9-8, after leading 8-3 at one point.
Freshman Drew Rosbottom drove in VU's lone run in the opening game with a single that scored sophomore Lucas Ray.
The Trailblazers will face Cleveland State again Sunday with first pitch of a nine-inning game set for 12 p.m. Noon. Freshman Nick Nauracy gets the ball for VU in that contest.
VU's scheduled home opener is set for Saturday, Feb. 25, against Ancilla at Jerry Blemker Field.
